Some beautiful candid backstage shots from Norwegian kids fashion label Pale Cloud today from their recent fashion show at Petite Parade in New York. There is a focus on the details which are a key element of the design at Pale Cloud where shapes are often kept simple and wearable but fabrics are beautiful and decoration with embroidery, studding and openwork or frayed elements add the extra interest.

I have also added a shot from fall /winter 2013′s Pitti Bimbo exhibition with more beaded and studded details.

CIFF Kids teenage style and the beanie hat for winter 2013 kids fashion

The CIFF Kids trade fair for children’s fashion in Copenhagen always has a group label show that is lively and styled using various props and labels from a mixed up group of contributors from the fair.

To preview the next fall / winter season this year they focused on a layered theme and unusually there were a lot of teenage models on the catwalk. Apart from the fact that they looked giant put next to the 6 year olds it was interesting to see how the styles were adapted for the older kids into a cooler grungy look.

As I was photographing I lost track of whose outfits were worn by which model but notable contributors included Numph Kids, Gro, Soft Gallery, Poppy Rose, Petit Nord, Aya Naya and Frankie and Liberty.

One item to note is the oversized knitted beanie hat which has been everywhere for the winter 2013 season.

Modéerska Huset sneak peek for fall / winter 2013 stunning prints for baby and child

Modéerska Huset designer Jenny Modéer had an unfortunate experience at Playtime Paris kids fashion trade fair this season when her fall / winter collection didn’t make it through customs in time for the show.

Luckily she did have a drawing of her new graphic print and a selection of the summer but for those who missed it here is a sneak peek at the winter 2013 children’s collection from baby to 6 years. Her whimsical and delicate patterns make a delightful background for her ecoethical organic cotton pieces and her Swedish homeland shows in the illustrative nature of her prints.

The inspiration for winter 2013 comes from her strong minded father who had a tame Magpie as a little boy and loved birds and astronomy and everything to do with the sky. The summer collection will soon be online and there is a good selection of last winter on sale to browse too.

Backstage at Il Gufo kids fashion show fall / winter 2013 in Florence for Pitti Bimbo 76

It’s taken me a while to do a good edit on my backstage pics this season as the kids fashion shows just seemed to be a non stop rush from one European city to another!

Here finally are some little trend goodies from the backstage of the gorgeous Il Gufo show for autumn / winter 2013. You can see how incredibly well made some of the outfits are and how typical the kids are, the girls all play nicely together and the boys rough and tumble each other of course!

Pitti Bimbo showcases around 10 catwalk shows a season over 2 days so its a pretty busy schedule and I try to go backstage for at least two a season, there is so much to do there I can’t fit in anymore than that!

London Fashion Week for fall /winter 2013 and some cute accessories

Beautiful sunny weather this year for London Fashion week which brought out the street style bloggers and poseurs in swathes, dodging the rat run to the entrance I found some really cute accessories on the stands inside this year.

These are womenswear pieces but some could oh so easily be used for kids styling too. This season the exhibition also featured Scandinavian designers with big names like Peter Jensen and Gudrun & Gudrun and a good selection of lesser known brands.

On another note, all mums who love a practical shoe will die when you see what the newly revamped Dr Martins have done with the classic shoes and boots, a collaboration with Stephen Walters and Sons has produced divine rich burgundy brocade and glitter interpretations, and there are amazing studded styles too.

Finally as it was the weekend of course there were a couple of stylish kids around too, the twins below are the daughters of Welsh fashion designer Jayne Pierson who runs them up the occasional item in between her womenswear collections.
