Selfridges get it right yet again with their inspirational summer window display for s/s 2013.

Another fantastic window display by Selfridges for the summer 2013 season, I am loving the inspirational props used to celebrate the great British events of the season – My Little Pony for Ascot, garden gnomes for florals and Barbie dolls for the Notting Hill Carnival.

Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton at Selfridges, what a hoot – crazy windows!

The collaboration between Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton has opened at Selfridges with some stunning window displays.

Selfridges has them online with a gallery of how the windows were transformed in a time lapse delay to be showing soon. It’s amazing how one person can own polka dots in such a manner. They are just great fun, enjoy!

Loving these scarf shots for Alexander McQueen

Shot by Babette Pauthier who also shoots fantastic kids fashion photos, these new shots for Alexander McQueen’s  scarf collection are wonderful. Flying and soaring away, they just say summer to me.

Yohji Yamamoto at the V&A retrospective, fashion from a Japanese Master

I quickly passed by the V&A at the weekend and ran in hoping to catch some of the Yohji Yamamoto exhibition. I knew my time was limited but was hoping to photograph some of the exhibits scattered around the V&A and do the full exhibition at a later date.

Well I didn’t get very far as I was sidetracked into the shop where a selection of T-shirts and this great floral sack bag are on sale as well as the exhaustive catalogue. So after 15 minutes deciding whether to buy the floral Furoshiki bag or not (still not decided – it is £85 after all)  I didn’t get much else photographed but just to say, this is one exhibition not to miss.

The website of the V&A has some great information about the exhibition as well as a personal blog about its setting up and info on two other concurrent related exhibitions running in Wapping and other special events.

I still have one of the original Nick Knight catalogues from the 80′s and it is one of my most treasured pieces from my days in womenswear. The catalogue reproduces much from that era and also has a cover image from Nick Knight that could have been an original photo.

Christopher Raeburn’s flying rabbits and other London Fashion Week goodies

One of the unusual sights at London Fashion Week at Somerset House was the Beach hut style painted white sheds erected for Topshop Newgen and the sponsored designers within the group.

In the very last hut Christopher Raeburn had imported two of his seamstresses who were hard at work making stuffed bunnies with leftover pieces of cloth, it was great to see and reminded you of the hard graft behind the glossy image.

Other highlights were the display shoes from Nicholas Kirkwood from the Rodarte show in New York and the Love shoes by Georgina Goodman, so cool they come in flats as well as high heels. Repetto showed their children’s white patent tap shoes and black pumps as a reminder of the kids collection too.

For those who still rate Madonna there is also the Jean Paul Gaultier collection for La Perla of look alike corset underwear though you would be a braver woman than me to venture out in these pieces!
