Avant-Garde Circus kidswear for Raspberry Plum from the early 20th Century and it’s influence on art and fashion inspire the new fall/winter 2017 collection previewed on Smudgetikka today. One of my favourite British based designer kids labels, RaspberryPlum is avant-garde and experimental yet highly wearable, there are only a handful of designers in kidswear that are really moving the trends along and Raspberry Plum is one of them. The collection pays ...

The beautiful new Design Museum Kensington
The beautiful new Design Museum opens on November 24th on the site of the old Commonwealth Institute just off Kensington High St. I was lucky enough to be invited to the press preview for this sure to be iconic building, a renovation of the older iconic and listed building whose outer shell and parabolic roof it retains. Christmas 2016 at Petersham Nurseries
Christmas 2016 has arrived at Petersham Nurseries, always a pleasure to visit and always an inspiration for the holiday season. This year there is a focus on all things angelic with white metallic angel wings for wall and tree decorations and sweet retro looking padded angel tree decorations which are joined by winter woodland creatures. The odd exotic decoration features too with pink flamingo tree ornaments and glittery glass bird baubles.
The Vulgar: Fashion redefined haute couture at Barbican Art Gallery
The new exhibition, The Vulgar:Fashion Redefined at the Barbican Art Gallery has a very wide definition of vulgar indeed. 1920’s Jazz Age fashion recreated
1920’s Jazz Age fashion is recreated for the new exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum in Bermondsey, London. A fantastic selection of 20’s gowns and daywear from the collection of Cleo and Mark Butterfield is displayed in themes for the decade of the 1920’s ending with the crash of 1929, a timely reminder for our own era. What surprised me about the collection was not only the incredibly good quality of ...

The Hay Store coolest interiors shop in Copenhagen
The Hay Store is always on my hit list when I visit Copenhagen. The coolest interiors store in town, they always have a few new surprises for a new season with quirky mementos that are easy to buy and transport. Known for their bold coloured stationary and bedding, rather less for their geometric furniture, its the kitschy ornaments and ceramics that I always delight in.
