Digital kids fashion week launched Day 1 at The Rendezvous with sneak peeks of spring/summer 2021 from the top names in kids designer fashion, interviews, behind the scene views and more all at The Rendezvous online and between the partners, myself, Hooligans Magazine, Scimparello Magazine and Pirouette blog.
Kicking us all off is Tia Cibani whose fall/winter collection I previewed here last week.
“The first TiA CiBANi KiDS collection was created on a whim, when a longtime supporter of designer Tia Cibani asked her to create a children’s collection using fabric from her namesake women’s line.
Tia believes that good design should be inventive, uplifting and functional! She draws inspiration from her North African heritage and the world in which we live, making for a juxtaposition of poetic charm and modern day pragmatism.
From baby to age 16, highlights of the collection include exquisite accessories as well as the Mommy+Me pairings.
“NUR” the S/S 21 collection has been developed under difficult circumstances. At times it felt frivolous to think of fabrics, colours, patterns and fashion when the world around us seemed to be in such despair over the pandemic, as well as social and political struggles, but it was the light that kept nudging at us and encouraging us to stay focused on what we know and love. To keep living, keep growing, keep our humanity, keep our passions, keep our creativity, keep our strength and keep loving one another.
As with past collections, the S/S 21 collection embraces our rich and varied global community. The references here include colourful trimmings of raffia, tassels, pompoms and embroideries along with the art of the Suri people of Ethiopia, Bauhaus weaving craft, sportive safari, floral ornamentation, checks and stripes, and the work of artists Aldo Lanzini, Simone Leigh, Tagene Kunbi, and Nick Cave. We mix all of it together, and stir in our own inspirations.”
Founded in 2011 by Italian Fashion designer Serena Di Scalzo, joined soon after by partner Sepehr Nosrati, with their first collection launched in 2013, LOUD reflects an amalgamation of British creativity and the excellent craftsmanship of Italian design.
“With sustainability and quality in mind LOUD is aimed at fashion-conscious children and parents alike, with a penchant for quirky and playful designs but ultimately comfortable everyday silhouettes.
THAT SUMMER ‘FEELIN the new SS21 collection presented by LOUD is inspired by the 1977 song ‘Mr Blue Sky’ from Electric Light Orchestra.
It is about summer, the energy, positivity and smiles this season brings to all of us and our children.
The collection’s line up follows the iconic characteristic of the brand, with black and off white check monochromes, a hint of coral and pastel blue, a dye effect and a selection of denim pieces”
“Young Soles is a luxury children’s footwear brand with a collection of lightweight shoes, boots and sandals for boys and girls from toddler to junior.
Reinventing British heritage styles by adding contemporary styling, Young Soles are designed in East London and made in Europe using the highest quality materials.
With styles that complement all outfits, any child will look and feel like the coolest kid in town.
“The Spring Summer 2021 collection has been inspired by a nostalgic sense of yearning for simpler more innocent times, like the popular UK 70’s sitcom ‘The Good Life’ which was ahead of its time promoting ‘self-sufficiency’, ‘staycations’ and ‘grow-your-own’.
The colours have been inspired by nature with an earthy colour palette of chestnut brown, clay, mustard and pea green complemented by bright primary colours like lilac, ocean blue, red and mellow yellow.
Lmn3/Elementary is created more as a feeling, a reaction to the state of fashion and its overall environmental impact rather than just another brand. Our mission is to produce enduring and high-quality essentials for kids aged 2-12, whilst protecting the environment using low-impact materials.
All of our fabrics are chosen with intent. We use recycled, organic and natural fibres that include Cotton, Linen, Tencel-Lyocell. All of our swimsuits are made from recycled Polyester.
Our collections and prints are designed exclusively in our studio based in Vienna and are produced in a GOTS and SMETA certified factory in Portugal.
The first collection of LMN3/Elementary is titled The Circle, a translation of the Japanese word Enso that conveys the “expression of the moment”.
The Spring/Summer ‘21 collection is strongly connected to the sustainable world of Eco-friendly fabrics. The collection emanates optimism, freedom and energy through a cheerful palette.
LMN3/Elementary reinvents basics, embraces comfort, features pleats and folds throughout the collection. Inspiration comes from Origami, the traditional Japanese paper-folding technique.
