New kids fashion for the fall/winter hits the stores any day now as the sales wind down.
Today we are focusing on the amazing creative talent of Tia Cibani who is based in New York and who has managed to produce her fall/winter kids fashion collection ready for sale by the tail end of summer.
It’s been a very strange season and lots of the children’s market brands have had difficulties due to Covid but as manufacturing returns so the autumn collections begin to filter through.
Fashion and recession might seem odd bedfellows but historically children’s wear always does ok, partly due to the fact that kids are always growing so last years wardrobe is unlikely to fit.
Also although mothers might be reluctant to spend on themselves they still love the opportunity to dress up their little darlings, an instinct still as strong as ever which we have seen throughout the covid crisis.
Tia Cibani’s winter collection is inspired by the famed artist Atta Kwami, and is an eclectic patchwork of all things west African.
Kwami’s modernist perspective is evident in the season’s signature print of bold strokes and expressive colour.
Kente cloth textures are made modern in contemporary jacquard patterns while a collage of traditional wax print patterns take on a spontaneous life of their own, juxtaposing traditional silhouettes with sports styled construction.
Look out for some sneak peeks of Tia’s spring/summer 2021 collection from my new collaboration @therendezvous in our digital kids fashion week starting on the 17th August.
