Trade show CIFF Kids fashion and lifestyle in Copenhagen for winter 2018 happened last week, the trade fair felt busier this season and exhibitors seemed happy with the result.
For me one of the strongest feelings I had was the change in colour of the Scandinavian market, from the land of white walls there seems to be a move away from lightness, especially in interiors with a lot of gold, grey, deep amber, plum and rust shades coming through.
As befits cold northern countries there were a lot of stunning knits on display with a bias to handworked embroideries or modern reworks of traditional pattern, and a lot of outerwear, some very technical and some more fashionable but many exhibitors were choosing to forego down fillings in favour of modern eco fillings instead.
New promising exhibitors at CIFF Kids included A Monday in Copenhagen which was founded by the ex designer of Mini a Ture, Benni’s Nest, a beautiful aromatic oiled wooden cot and Think Organic who own their production facility and are able to produce at a very competitive price organic baby bedding.
Two interesting excursions outside the fair were to see young brand WaWa in the new Mikkeller owned cafe Hyggestund and to the Ferm Living apartment showroom both of which had a cosy warm atmosphere with the darker rich walls.
