Pitti Bimbo 90 kids fashion trends for winter 2020.
More sustainability, more deep colour especially purple and green combinations, more volume, longer lengths, lots of quilting, more stuff similar to last year and historical references ie; higher necklines.
I think that sums it up!
Actually one of the really good things about fashion at the moment is the variety and general lack of distinct trends that allows you to go back into a wardrobe of ten years ago and find something that can still look current.
Pass me downs will look cool, buying vintage will look cool and wearing a bit of last season mixed with new will look cool. Gucci has a lot to answer for!
For Pitti I used a bag that was 7 years old, a 2 year old dress and a necklace and scarf that were both nearly 20.
There is a bigger post to be had about sustainability that I am working on and I would appreciate any comments you feel important about this. All I will say here is that there are brands making concerted efforts in this field and I want to see what Playtime Paris has to offer as well before I do a sustainable feature.
I think most of us realise the value in buying designer or good quality and making it last or sending it to resale, passing it on for a circular approach. That we have to try to buy less is beyond question, even with growing kids, but in those choices there will be winners and losers even more than is currently the case.
The exclusive shots below by Abi Campbell are all from Apartment at Pitti Bimbo, the area for fashion forward and chic labels that are midway between those recently starting up and the traditional big name brands. Here there is innovation, quality and pure design, some of it astonishing for childrenswear.
