Kids fashion on vacation was the theme at Playtime Paris for the spring/summer 2018 season.

There’s a feeling of change coming through some of the brands with a new lightness, freshness and a move away from the print so dominant for the past few years.

A fresh white cotton shirt or dress in a crisp light weight or broderie anglaise, a small or large scale gingham check, a pastel sorbet muslin or a beach pebble hued cheescloth, all have the feel of simple easy dressing that can be rolled up into a suitcase for a quick getaway family trip.

Maybe its the desire to get away from all the politics on the home front at the moment and escape to a sunny neverland.

With temperatures hitting new highs in June this summer its a look that can be adapted for at home dressing too in Europe where this year summer temperatures went from early spring to high summer in less than a week.

Some of the big brands emphasised the vacation feeling in their stories too, Bobo Choses, always a bellweather label chose ‘Neverending Sumer’ Tambere from Korea chose ‘Bon Voyage’ Wolf & Rita were inspired by artist Ed Rushka and his images of America and Tiny Cottons had ‘Hotel Bonheur’ whilst newcomer label Barn of Monkeys chose ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’ the ultimate travel theme.

Sports styles are also popular with the track pant, singlet and curved gym short often jazzed up with sequins and satin decoration.

What feels right now are simple shapes and fresh style, a new broom to sweep away recurring patterns in summer 2018, labels such as the Belgium Anne Kurris and Simple Kids are also embracing new fresh colour and simple styles in white or denim hues.
