Just back from a trip to present kids fashion in China as the Italian ambassador for the luxury children’s market at the fashion week of Shanghai and fashion week in Changshu, Stefano Cavalleri presented a kids fashion show to close the fashion week.
Supported by the government Stefano showed a limited edition collection of 20 outfits under the name Stefano Cavalleri all in the colour red. Stefano previously designed for the label Quiz Quiz and before that was one half of the super successful I Pinco Pallino label in Italy.
In his words “RED is the colour of love, of passion, of fire, of joy. In Chinese culture, RED represents good luck and prosperity.
My memories often bring me back to ‘Red’ Andersen’s fairy tale “Red Shoes”, Dorothy’s sparkling shoes in “the Wizard of Oz”, the cape of “Little Red Riding Hood”, all the clothes in the world of cinema and fashion, Audrey Hepburn in “Cinderella in Paris”, Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman”, Valentino’s scarlet clothes, Roberto Capucci’s sculpture masterpieces and Diana Vreeland was a tireless supporter of red.
I wanted to give myself the freedom to think of a monochromatic collection, precious and rich to give a dream to all those little girls who feel small contemporary Princesses and not Lolita or Barbie, I wanted, as always to evoke a historical-sentimental memory that involves the mythology of childhood. With my clothes, I try to give grace and beauty to the little girls who wear them and convey their harmony and good taste in a world where today, unfortunately, aesthetic models are totally different.”
