Raspberry Plum SS18 sneak peek kidswear today, always one of my favourite brands to preview.
The inventive design from founder Aleksandra Matthews and quirky photography by Sonya Hurtado combine for a fun and fashion led concept with many fans around the world.
This season the inspiration comes from jazz music and jazz inspired art from the mid 20th century, such as album covers and festival posters. There is also a little bit of influence of Latin Jazz thrown into the mix.
Details include embroideries of faces depicted as singing, or figures playing instruments and abstract musical illustrations. The music itself influenced the mood and the playfulness of the collection. The colours are very summery and soft with accents if yellow and coral pink. Black and white irregular, collage stripes give the collection a stronger graphic edge.
New for this season at Raspberry Plum are a few denim pieces for both boys and girls which include denim jackets, fitted jeans for boys and cropped balloon jeans for girls. Also straw boater hats in block colours which are made in Spain, graphic swimwear pieces for girls, as well as hair accessories which are hand-made by long-term partner Panonke. This is a non- profit organisation from Serbia who work on gathering traditional dying crafts from across the country and pass these skills on to the next generation.
Finally summer 2018 see the introduction of adult sizes for women with some selected styles.
