There were plenty of kids fashion highlights at Pitti Bimbo 85, the trade fair held in Florence every season which seems to just keep on growing.
This season there were 548 exhibitors and numerous events, some of which I will cover in detail later in the week.
Catwalk shows included Children’s Fashion from Spain, Monnalisa, Il Gufo and I Pinco Pallino and events such as the Pucci Junior launch I covered yesterday and a beautiful breakfast by Roberto Cavalli plus a fantastic Pitti Blooms party on the Friday evening.
Kids fashion is still hooked on bright colours and the newest styles feature unusual shirting, lots of bib fronts, ruffled shoulder and sleeve details and wider leg pants.
Animals are still the favoured print with flamingo’s, swans and dogs coming into the equation for summer 2018.
The news from Pitti re buyers shows that there is an increase from countries such as Russia, China, Ukraine, Netherlands and Austria whilst total visitors stays at around 10,000.
If there is a running theme at all it is the number of Mini Me collections at the show, with new kids labels for Neil Barrett (well known in menswear and now with a womens line too) Elisabetta Franchi (known in Italy for womenswear) and Marco Bologna whose designers used to work with Dolce & Gabbana and also have a successful womenswear line whilst Raspberry Plum introduced Maxi Me with adult versions of her unique creations and Monnalisa launched a Mummy and Me collection with adult versions to match the kids!
