Luxe kids fashion styles from Lamantine Paris for winter 2012 with a 70′s YSL feel.

Looking at the recent Saint Laurent womenswear for summer 2013 I noticed a familiar style, inspired as new designer at the house Heidi Slimane was by the 70′s YSL look I had seen this before at Pitti Bimbo with the beautiful fabrics and textures of the Lamantine children’s fashion line.

There are a few kids fashion brands that are truly luxe in make, textiles and design and Lamantine is one of them, unsurprisingly the designer Sabrina Vedeo was born in Italy and worked in the fashion business in Milan before she moved to Paris and set up her own collection.

The label has a range of featherweight blouses and tops, sweet little bow tied panties and tailored wool coats and cape style jackets all in a autumnal palette of mustard, chestnut brown, leaf green and gold. It is so stunningl I wanted most of it myself.

It doesn’t have a UK stockist yet but sells through Barneys in the USA and many chic children’s boutiques in Europe.

Alway’s a fan of multi-coloured stripes for summer children’s clothing I am drawn to the Sonia Rykiel kids collection as they have some of the best striped combinations around.

At Pitti Bimbo they showed off a cute sense of humour too with their sweet rag doll belt or bag attachments and the sunglasses sun hat for kids summer 2013.

The bright colourways extended to a splash simple deconstructed floral prints, giant poppy prints and fruity clusters too for ruffled dresses, oversized fine knits, all in one pantsuits and fabric accessories too.

Pitti Bimbo 75, kids designer fashion for summer 2013, a personal view from the catwalk

A scorching hot Pitti Bimbo greeted visitors this season, appropriate for the summer 2013 children’s fashion trends we were viewing but hardly the most comfortable temperature to work in with readings at around 40 degrees most days. Still it was a pleasure not to have to think about rain after this summer’s wash out in the UK!

An opening tableaux of scarecrows decorating the main concourse lurched over the fair in a strong graphic display against the bright blue sky but provided little clues to the kidswear trends apart from the odd touch of floral print.

This was a season for florals, neon and lace for the girls, primaries, ikat prints, graphic T-shirts and preppie linens for the boys. Two of the best shows were Monnalisa and Twin-Set Girl. Monnalisa took us to the touristico favourite Piazzale Michelangelo where a circular middle section to the catwalk proved useful to screen the Italy v Germany Euro 2012 match and which opened at half time for the fashion show with a good mood all round as Italy were 2-0 up.

Twin-Set Girl plumped for a white curtained interior room within a room catwalk with no stage and children who zoomed at speed amongst the audience, cast in a light that exaggerated flouro shades. The kids all had neon pink lined eyes and rosy cheeks and easy to wear but beautiful silk and fine cotton layered clothing. Il Gufo also had a stunning show with a catwalk lined with herbs and a finale where hundreds of paper butterflies fell from the ceiling.

Elsy Summer 2013, first look from Pitti Bimbo 75 at summer 2013 children’s fashion trends

Here is a quick look at Elsy girls fashion trends for next summer 2013 kidswear from Pitti Bimbo 75.

This label banned photography from the catwalk this season so they will not be in my personal round up but they have supplied these shots as a preview and they do illustrate quite well a couple of the main trends which are sorbet pastels and romantic dresses.

Yellow is also still popular here as it was in London, and texture and shine continue from the winter season. The floral dress is in the illustration I used in my last post and its interesting to see how different it looks in reality due to the use of a highly textured fabric here.

Pitti Bimbo summer 2013 previews for kids designer fashions shown in Florence, Italy.

So a couple of sneak previews for you all today from Young Versace who showed last night in a Palazzo on the river with a tableau of mannequins, Simonetta who held a reception at the famed Florentine store Luisa Via Roma and from Elsy who banned photography at their catwalk presentation, a fairly pointless task as many people just raise a sneaky phone up at intervals and at the finale anyway.

When the likes of Prada and Marc Jacobs are live streaming from the catwalk it seems a little irrelevant to be so precious over a children’s collection. However, they always have some nice sketches so I have posted them below.

Young Versace have embraced both pastels and vibrant colour in their collection and also a quick look at Il Gufo who are showing on the catwalk today.
