The amazing Danish kids ethicool brand New Generals have revamped their online webshop in time for the summer season and are offering €150 gift voucher to one lucky reader.

New Generals have become known for their totally ethical approach to kids fashion for boys and girls but with avant garde styling and design. Their architectural dresses and jackets and teamed with cool insect or graphic line prints and their colour palette is monochromatic with a touch of additional colour which varies each season.

A favourite of all the fashionista bloggers at the trade fairs they produced an amazing collection for winter 2013 which you can see on my earlier post here. New Generals kids fashion catwalk show fall/winter 2013, up close and personal

New Generals are one of the most innovative companies working in kids fashion today. From the beginning the brand was conceived for the modern era with its eco and sustainable ethic combined with a cool edgy direction that stems from both the creators background in adult fashion.

New Generals fall / winter 2013/14 children’s collection retains black as the key colour but this is lifted with shades of soft plum, grey and slate blue. At the catwalk show held as part of the CIFF Kids trade fair in Copenhagen, amazing braided knitwear caps, scarves and showpieces designed by David Anderson using recycled designer wear and upcycled production waste accessorised the catwalk looks.

The models stopped and paused in front of the buyers and press which gave us a great opportunity to photograph the collection from up close. I was backstage before and saw the difficult circumstances of the last few minutes, crammed into a badly lit corridor where the boots and gloves were dipped into glue and glitter right at the last minute before the models entered the stage.

Kids fashion trends for the fall / winter 2013 season, Pitti Bimbo 76 opens tomorrow.

From what I have seen so far of the winter season for 2013 kidswear, the vivid brightness of summer seems to have been toned down with just a few bright key pieces livening up otherwise traditional autumnal colours.

The soft tones remain too in sludgy pinks, greens and greys. Fluted sleeves, fitted jackets, gently flared skirts and skinny trousers seem to be the silhouette with bib neck or Peter Pan collar styles in favour too. Tribal prints also are gaining ground as a potential new widespread trend.

For those with the time and interest Il Gufo will be live streaming their kids fashion show on the catwalk at Pitti Bimbo 76 on Jan 18th at around 11.00am European time and as usual a selection of shots from the catwalks and fair will be available on the Pitti Bimbo website shortly after presentations.

In a huge departure from their monochromatic palette, New Generals the innovative eco kids designer fashion label from Denmark have introduced a vivid blue shade to their new mid-season collection.

In another departure they have announced a confirmed schedule of 4 collections a year with mid-season styles to meet the increasing interest in the brand. The collection now also spans the ages from 3 -14 years for both boys and girls.

The new collection titled ‘Fragments of Summer” follows the main collection in consisting of GOTS certified soft organic fabrics and uses quirky detailing with light and silhouette shapes broken by graphic lines. Limited to only 150 pieces in a style worldwide these are sure to be incredibly popular.

Backstage at the New Generals Kids designer fashion show for summer 2013 at CPH Kids trade fair.

New Generals showed their summer 2013 children’s fashion collection on Friday at CPH Kids using the TAP 2 halls where Copenhagen Fashion week holds many of its adult fashion shows.

The space was huge which was fantastic for a kids catwalk show as so often they are crammed into pretty small venues since the audience does tend to be smaller and more focused than in adult ranges.

With a theme of butterflies for girls and beetles for boys on the graphic prints of their signature look the New Generals catwalk entrance was decorated with 2,000 handmade paper butterflies and giant butterfly rings were worn by the girls to continue the theme.

They are the most avante-garde of the ethical kids fashion brands and yet have full GOTS organic certification, the company focuses on a mantra of ethical + cool.
