Boden shows off Mini Boden and Johnnie B at their fall / winter 2013 press preview

I am so impressed with the effort that Boden go to for their bi-annual press shows, this one for fall 2013 featured a display of sock monkeys, sewn from Boden socks by the staff in dozens of variations.

The display was backed up with giant wall posters which had a massive impact at entire wall sizes and the kids clothing ranges had plenty of new prints and styles to keep those who have been critical about the company’s reliance on key staples happy.

For girls there is a retro feel with lots of pretty print dresses and skirts in unique textiles and also some Tromph L’oeil dresses which seem to be shaping up into a trend for this coming winter.

For boys there is a new emphasis on variations of shirting, a simple blue blazer jacket and a fun Scottie intarsia sweater.

Mini Boden special occasion kidswear, online limited edition for spring/summer 2013

Last year Mini Boden kidswear introduced a mini me collection for special events, weddings, christenings, bar mitzvah, you know the kind of thing.

This has been expanded this year but is an online only limited edition offering and has recently gone live on the site so I would snap it up now if you have anything at all vaguely celebratory this year.

The dresses have their own identity but will tie in with colours and fabrics from the mainline women’s collection should you wish to take that route, as standalone outfits though they are very cute. They are on both the USA and UK sites and I would accessorise them with the grey rib knee socks banded in colour that are coming online at Mini Boden little later this season in the manner of the Bonnie Young recent show in New York seen here.

New vintage inspired prints and on trend colours at Boden summer 2013 kids fashion press day.

It’s a further change in direction for the new season at Mini Boden where intense colour and retro inspired prints dominate the kids fashion ranges right down to the baby items.

Some really great colour combinations, fab accessories (shoes and scarves) and even 70′s style towelling prints have moved the label even further away than in this winter’s season collection from its friendly but much copied coloured spotty and jolly mixed floral aesthetic.

There is also a move towards the more graphic modern style of printing with its European influence in bright neon but also subtler colour combinations, too many different options to show in one post but here is a good selection to whet your appetites.

Boden previews fall / winter 2012 / 13 with a new revamped children’s fashion collection for Mini Boden.

With a new designer on board Boden has taken the opportunity to revamp the Mini Boden kids collections and give them a fresh new update which sees new styling introduced whilst retaining the essential Boden signature.

Great new retro style prints, pattern mixes and details make these clothes stand out in their price bracket as a must buy. New touches such as the gold sequinned hem and sleeves on a print velvet party dress and rainbow colour intarsia knitwear mixed with patterned skirts and striped roll neck cotton tops have a funky Scandinavian feel.

New accessory details are strong as well, contrast colour banded knee socks, chunky hats and scarves, b/w wide striped wellie boots and in the older Johnny b teen range a wonderful pair of laced simple suede shoes stand out.

The baby styles are sweet and trend led with a less traditional palette and the softest knitwear ever and the boy’s range whilst retaining the trad Boden styling has new touches such as the contrast flag undercollar on a rugby shirt and a great red vibrant undercollar and patches on a cord blazer jacket.

Boden always have a fantastic display, here are the shades of winter 2012.
