Marie Chantal, French style chic for girls and boys fashion fall /winter 2012

The styling of designer kids fashion label Marie Chantal has an air of French chic although the label is firmly associated with and based London and there is a good selection for boys helped along by the designer’s experience of four of her own!

Beautiful fabrics and attention to cut remind one of the label Bonpoint, especially in the girls collection of little dresses and tweed shorts teamed with perfect little blouses in soft heathery colourways.

The collection was inspired by winter woodlands and includes rich berry tones and dark greens, with a very surprising pair of sequin shorts! Reflections of a woodland stream perhaps?

Marie-Chantal children’s spring summer 2012 fashion preview, pretty dresses galore

A sneak preview today from the Marie-Chantal kids fashion look for summer 2012. The strength in this collection comes from the beautiful girls dresses, perfect for summer parties and events in silk chiffon with little cap sleeves and layered skirts.

The rest of the collection is chic and with a taste for the classic, particularly for boys with tailored suits, slipover vests and checked shirts or nautical themes.

High summer is also catered for with madras plaids and sprigged florals. The styles suit the Chelsea tastes of her boutique and will appeal to the classic customer everywhere.

The new Monsoon campaign is on line and there are some very sweet images shot by UK based children’s photographer Julia Bostock.

Monsoon always has a very good selection of party dresses, tutu skirts and girly accessories perfect for the upcoming winter party season. They are also making a big effort with the boys collection and using their ethnic signature producing some cool chunky winter knits for the boys.

Julia has also shot a really sweet picture for Marie- Chantal‘s new winter publicity too, I love the retro feel to it, another great party look too!

Kids Fashion trends for summer 2012 from Pitti Bimbo 73rd edition in Florence

OK, so I am finding this difficult because all I want to talk about is colour, the boldness of it and the lack of it, because you see mostly in Italy there is either colour and lots of it, vibrant, zinging joyful, heart lifting colour.

Or there is none, white, cream, neutral tans, flesh tones and sort of nothingness. And that is really all there is to say about trends, sure there are certain shapes, maxi lengths have all but disappeared but jumpsuits seem to have caught on, shorts are blousy and bloomerish or micro short, leggings are all over the place layered under tunics or dresses, cut off at the calf and in lace, stripes, floral prints and so on.

The rest looks just like it did 2 years ago, or 3. Ruffles are everywhere, trousers legs are mainly straight with a nod to flares at Miss Grant, skirt lengths are on the knee or just above and gathered for volume. Dresses look newest in an A line shift shape.

So below I have gathered some of my favorite things from Pitti Bimbo, its all on trend because it seems everything is these days, just a few bits are more on trend than others though! Catwalk round up tomorrow.

Camel and grey tailoring trends for winter 2011 children's wear at Pitti Bimbo 72

One of the strong trend themes coming out of the recent Pitti Bimbo trade fair in Florence for autumn and winter 2011 kidswear was the strength of wool tailored styles in both camel and grey tones.

From Crombie style coats for both boys and girls to softer duffles and cape styles almost every show had a piece for children on the catwalks, shown here are Fendi Kids, Silvian Heach and Blauer Junior.
