Next summer children’s fashion actually looks a lot like this summer but brighter, bolder, more neon and more romantic too, if those can ever be said to go together.

Some of the highlights from the exhibition stands at Pitti Bimbo below. Sorry to be brief but I am now backtracking in time and viewing all the goodies for Christmas and they are long days!

Children’s footwear trends for winter 2012, a roundup from the trade shows

Having seen an extensive selection of the trade shows this year I have a pretty good view of the forthcoming trends for kids footwear for the 2012 winter season.

In Italy shearling rules as nearly all the catwalk shows featured variations on the classic Ugg style boot with different colourways and permutations of studding, lacing, buckling and crystal embellishment. Fur turn back trims and metallic quilted leathers were also strong.

The pump still goes from strength to strength as a girls popular choice for day and party shoes with new variations come from the new designer at Angulus who added a sweet furry bow, Paul Smith who added a signature stripe fine bow and many brands showed glitter dance variations.

For boys there are many options on the laced baseball boot with leather contrast trims, flouro contrast laces, two tone spat style colourways plus a restrained trainer syle and chunky black biker boots.

Metallics are still key for leather finishes and shiny patents with the luxe look of a high end sports car are popular with top brands in deep reds and vibrant blue, orange and green.

Kids Fashion trends for summer 2012 from Pitti Bimbo 73rd edition in Florence

OK, so I am finding this difficult because all I want to talk about is colour, the boldness of it and the lack of it, because you see mostly in Italy there is either colour and lots of it, vibrant, zinging joyful, heart lifting colour.

Or there is none, white, cream, neutral tans, flesh tones and sort of nothingness. And that is really all there is to say about trends, sure there are certain shapes, maxi lengths have all but disappeared but jumpsuits seem to have caught on, shorts are blousy and bloomerish or micro short, leggings are all over the place layered under tunics or dresses, cut off at the calf and in lace, stripes, floral prints and so on.

The rest looks just like it did 2 years ago, or 3. Ruffles are everywhere, trousers legs are mainly straight with a nod to flares at Miss Grant, skirt lengths are on the knee or just above and gathered for volume. Dresses look newest in an A line shift shape.

So below I have gathered some of my favorite things from Pitti Bimbo, its all on trend because it seems everything is these days, just a few bits are more on trend than others though! Catwalk round up tomorrow.

Beautiful fabrics from LEOCA Paris for couture quality children's fashion for winter 2011

LEOCA Paris presents its collections for the first time for winter 2011 for kids fashion with a devotion to fine fabrics and finish that is of couture quality.

A partnership between Maud Falcon de Longevialle who is the Artistic Director and whose background includes both work for movies and fashion where she was the stylist for the well known French brand Oona l’Ourse and her finance director Alice Teulieres.

The label has elegant tweed coats with fur collars, wool dresses and great tartan and printed textured fabrics with contrast cuffed details.
