The 77th edition of Pitti Bimbo will be held between the 27th and 28th June 2013 at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence showcasing the kids designer fashion for spring/summer 2014. Below is the press release from the fair with all the facts and figures for the new edition.
The special projects and previews
460 collections expected, of which 185 from abroad; over 6,200 buyers and a total of more than 10,000 visitors at the last summer edition: these figures confirm Pitti Bimbo’s role as the only global reference trade fair in the childrenswear universe. An important observatory for global lifestyle trends connected to the world of children, the result of the myriad creative shortcuts between fashion, food, art and design. A 360° overview that spans the classic-elegant look of the big names at Pitti Bimbo, the sportswear of Sport Generation, the creativity of the research brands in New View and EcoEthic, the urban couture of Super Street, and the avant-garde collections at Apartment.
Among the new entries and special projects at this year’s edition include: the worldwide launch of the new junior collection Dsquared², with a space inside the Fortezza and a special event and the collection of Versace Young, that will be for the first time inside the Fortezza. And among many special projects on stage at this edition, we highlight Please, Hape, Imperial, Nice Things mini, Little Marcel, Jottum, Cakewalk, allo&lugh e Lumberjack Junior.
Our tour through the Fortezza begins with the Pitti Bimbo section – through the fashion of big name brands to luxury clothing for infants – where elegance is viewed through a contemporary filter adjusted to the world of children. And, enriching the proposals presented in the heart of the fair, the Main Pavilion – with close-ups of “adult” fashion trends – are products that have now become lifestyle items even for the youngest set: jewelry, fragrances, eyewear, furnishing items, bags and travel accessories. New Pop Up Stores will also be appearing with an extended selection of colorful, amusing accessories, breaking with traditional display rules. The names for this edition include: Alto Milano, Bea Legami Preziosi, Blui, Caco Design, Erfurt Luxury Accessories, I Remigini, Li-Lu, Nupkeet, Ozona and Pop Cutie accessories.
Apartment. Lifestyle luxury in children’s fashions
At the Lyceum, Apartment, a special section – now in its eighth edition - is dedicated to selected international children’s fashion brands that research luxury contemporary lifestyles for an evolved, niche consumer target group. The names for this edition include: Caramel Baby & Child, Golden Goose Deluxe Brand, La Stupenderia and Pèro.
For the summer edition of Pitti Bimbo, designer Ilaria Marelli will once again be reinventing the areas in the Lyceum with a surreal fairy-tale layout.
New View moves to the heart of the Main Pavilion. Fashion and design: the Pitti Bimbo concept lab
Taking its place in the heart of Pitti Bimbo, strategically placed at the center of the lower level of the Main Pavilion, is New View, the section that brings together collections with a high creative content and innovative brands for a demanding audience which, at each edition, becomes an experimental area for children’s fashion. It will be continuing along its new path with an innovative design approach: a new layout created by architect Oliviero Baldini characterized by more open spaces and greater communication between the products. At New View, fashion contaminations transcend kidswear to encompass the world of design and shelf-items, with some surprising special projects. The names for this edition include: cofucu baby, Frugoo, La Bottega di Giorgia (winner of Who’s On Next Bimbo 2013), My Little Dress Up, Pouce et Lina and Zona Centro.

EcoEthic. Pitti Bimbo is going green!
EcoEthic, the protagonist of one of the Pop Up Store areas in the Main Pavilion, is the section dedicated to green themes featuring a selection of the best brands that make sustainable fashion part of their signature. Here are firms from all over the world that produce their goods in an environmentally friendly way using organic and biological materials, protecting local manufacturers and small communities…and at the same time working to save our planet!

40 YEARS OF VOGUE BAMBINI
Vogue Bambini celebrates its first forty years with a new project in cooperation with Pitti Immagine: “Il cibo che sorride” (“Smiling Food”). A book that brings together fashion and food, in an original way, presenting the most important children’s brands according to their ethical and not just esthetic values, according to their tastes, including their favorite foods. This is not a look back at the past, not a monograph on “the way we were”, but a contemporary reflection that also encompasses what we put on our tables, discovering that all the top chefs love spending time in the kitchen with children.
