Bonnie Baby and the British kids fashion leap into Florence for winter 2013 trend previews

In Florence for Pitti Bimbo 76, I paid a visit to the Hotel Roma to meet Gareth from Bonnie Baby and his new kids fashion initiative Brilliant Little Britain bringing British baby and kids fashion companies to Florence to find new buyers while Pitti Bimbo the 76th edition was running.

With it’s British banner identity the group included Hucklebones and Indikidual too and Gareth has plans to expand for next season proviving buyers with a quick hit entry to some of the best British childrenswear brands.

The Hotel Roma and surrounding hotels are home to many buyers during the Pitti Bimbo season so it is a good spot for the group to show and they had commandeered the huge lobby area for the occasion which with its grand overtones and luxe marble floors had an at home expat feel.

Bonnie Baby have some new styles this season for fall/winter 2013 including a diamond knitted graphic and a penguin or owl intarsia knit to add to their popular fox design. Also a lovely graphic print which is a collaboration between designer Tracey Samuel with textile designer Garbo and Friends for snowsuits and outerwear.

Just released is the summer campaign for Hucklebones, one of the best new British kidswear labels of the past few years.

Back from a selling expedition to Florence where they joined forces with Bonnie Baby and Indikidual in the lobby of the Hotel Roma to catch some Pitti Bimbo traffic they are set for Playtime Paris this weekend too and their agent will have a stand at Bubble London.

Their retro inspired heirloom collections have a delicate touch with individual cuts for collars and volume added dresses and they are one of the first labels to pick up on the fan pleating seen at many Pitti Bimbo collections for the winter season.

Although sophisticated the label retains a childish quality. Look out for the delicate Swan fairytale print coming for next fall where inspiration comes from The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

It’s another stunning collection from the young design team at Hucklebones for children’s trend led fashion.

One of the brightest young British design teams in kidswear, the collection has echoes of vintage styling and fabrics, some styles are very childlike with fitted and gathered waists, others a little more sophisticated and feature 70′s style cape jackets and fan pleated metallic swirling skirts and dresses.

Bubble London part two – summer 2013 children’s fashion trends, today prints and pattern.

Wildmeadow flowers and retro style prints were amongst the most popular themes for next summer 2013 at Bubble London kids fashion fair. On the whole prints were ditsy tiny florals or strong graphic lines, plaids, ginghams, stripes and spots.

Traditional Liberty prints were as popular as ever and usually used in traditional smocking and gathered style dresses too. Truly the spirit of Endi Blyton lives on here in a mythical middle England that never dies.

There is also a use of traditional fabrics in untraditional ways, such as the plaid dungarees from Jessie and James and the heavy brocade skirt for summer instead of winter at No Added Sugar.

Our sweet model Elfie below is showing a dress from her mummy’s collection Victoria and Elfie named after them which as well as many varieties of Liberty print traditional dresses has the sweet pink dress with floral waist decoration second down.

Poppy showed beautiful wildflower meadow prints with storybook characters, their womenswear has been a huge hit so we must hope they keep on with the children's line as it is quite unique.

Bubble London June 2012 for kids fashion summer 2013 – key trends in childrenswear to spot.

Wow where to start, this is a great Bubble London show with plenty of fresh new exhibitors to excite the buyers and press alike for kidswear next summer.

In this first post I want to concentrate on three key stories, one is colour, there was an abundance of yellow at the fair often with or complementary to mint green, its a key colour story for summer 2013 along with splashes of neon pink and orange. Flesh tones and soft pastels are still there but not as extensively.

Next there is so much detail around necklines, bows, ribbon thread gathers and square cuts feature strongly.

Lastly for today, it looks like the Flamingo is shaping up to be creature of the season, it’s the perfect colour, neon pink, elegant and can be reduced to cartoon simplicity, what could be better.

Marmalade and Mash, simple shapes in key colours and stripes are always a winner in the summer season for kids.
