You know how it is when you are just wandering down the road, checking out the new spring shop displays and then WOW, something stops you in your tracks. I stumbled upon Dale Chihuly’s exhibition at The Halcyon Gallery, Old Bond St this week and was blown away by what this man does with glass.
I already knew his name and the hanging chandelier at the V&A but these works are such a delight to see in the centre of London. I found it uplifting to spend half an hour absorbing them all, for Dale it is all about light and the interaction between the sculpture and the light that hits and reflects it.
The room at the back that contains his work Mille Fiori is just stunning, the gallery staff are very friendly and helpful and everyone is allowed to take pictures which is refreshing. The show was due to close on 31st March but has been extended to 26th April so if you are in London and have the time, do pay a visit.
If you miss this there is a vibrant flame chandelier in honour of the London Olympics on Park Lane, just outside the Dorchester.

Magnificent glowing garden of glass, Mille Fiori by Dale Chihuly was created especially for the Halcyon Gallery exhibition
