Straight from the backstage at the Petite Parade trade fair from New York kids fashion week are some beautiful photos of the gorgeous Bonnie Young collection taken by NYC fashion and lifestyle photographer Lee Clower.

Modelling for the label was Fátima Ptacek who I posted about here, the young teen actress whose last movie ‘Curfew’ won an Academy award this year.

The dresses look as divine as always from Bonnie Young with elaborate floral appliques and headpieces to match and I love the way she has balanced their sophistication with plain grey socks and flattie simple pumps! This is a collection of perfect prom and party dresses for the fall / winter 2013 season.

Bonnie Young preview for kids fashion winter 2012, muted colour and mixed textures bang on trend for next winter’s fashion

New York based designer Bonnie Young always has the most beautiful children’s fashion collection, it is sophisticated and is for the pre-teen – teen age group so it is not a surprise that she has started an adult sized line too.

The stunning range for next winter has a soft no-colour colour feeling with washed out greens, greys, brown and off white shades that remind me a lot of some of the clothes I have been seeing at the London Fashion Week this weekend.

The studded leathers, ruched and twisted satins, fur banded hems, textured and fringed wools are bang on adult trend too and the pop of flourescent now and then completes the collection perfectly.

The adult versions will contain the same fabrics and styling as this children’s line, this is not an easily affordable collection but it is truly desirable and would suit customers from Russia and the East very well.

In the UK it is just available at Harvey Nichols kids boutique run by Step 2wo.

Superhero – great new kids fashion story from stylist Mindi Smith and children’s photographer Drew Sackheim

What a fantastic creative collaboration between New York based stylist Mindi Smith and photographer Drew Sackheim who have taken kids fashion for this winter and created a new range of child superheroes with attendant special effects.

Both Mindi and Drew have longstanding experience in the kids fashion arena, check out their other work here for Mindi and here for Drew and created this exciting story just too late for magazine publication deadlines so I am very happy to show the shots here.

The hair and grooming was by Gigi Gommers at Ford Artists.

Kids Fashion trends for summer 2012 from Pitti Bimbo 73rd edition in Florence

OK, so I am finding this difficult because all I want to talk about is colour, the boldness of it and the lack of it, because you see mostly in Italy there is either colour and lots of it, vibrant, zinging joyful, heart lifting colour.

Or there is none, white, cream, neutral tans, flesh tones and sort of nothingness. And that is really all there is to say about trends, sure there are certain shapes, maxi lengths have all but disappeared but jumpsuits seem to have caught on, shorts are blousy and bloomerish or micro short, leggings are all over the place layered under tunics or dresses, cut off at the calf and in lace, stripes, floral prints and so on.

The rest looks just like it did 2 years ago, or 3. Ruffles are everywhere, trousers legs are mainly straight with a nod to flares at Miss Grant, skirt lengths are on the knee or just above and gathered for volume. Dresses look newest in an A line shift shape.

So below I have gathered some of my favorite things from Pitti Bimbo, its all on trend because it seems everything is these days, just a few bits are more on trend than others though! Catwalk round up tomorrow.

Staggering new children's dress collection for winter 2011 from US designer Bonnie Young

Launched a week ago at the Pitti Bimbo trade fair was this unique kids fashion collection from Bonnie Young.

With a nod to the Ballet Russes and the dance dresses of the 1920′s and an all black and white palette the range is couture like, sadly for most of us with prices to match however it is still truly inspiring. There is a quick turn around on this collection and it is expected to hit Harvey Nichols in the UK early in the season in June for those who want to check it out in reality.
