Amazing kids photographic project showing gender differences, The Pink and Blue project

Thanks to the Arts blog Chicqero for alerting me to this brilliant project by Korean photographer JeongMee Yoon exploring the gender preferences for the colours pink and blue.

It began when his daughter started to only want to wear pink clothes and play with pink toys at 5 years old, he discovered the universal truth that no matter what their ethnicity so did many other girls and boys only wanted or preferred blue and so began the project in 2005 which is still ongoing today.

The pictures are an amazing exploration of what is available in today’s world and not only show the gender colour preference but just how many things today’s consumerist children acquire in their young lives.

Isis Linguanotto, Boo! A garden full of nightmares, new children's photography

So many professionals start working in childrenswear when they have their own children its refreshing to find a young photographer fresh out of Art School who has chosen photography with children as their starting point.

In her project, Boo! A garden full of nightmares, Isis Linguanotto  has used her inspirations from Tim Burton to German Expressionism to create a modern fairytale of horror.

Her photos will be exhibited at the Everyman Cinema in Belsize Park  London NW3 from April 14th till May 6th and there is also a book available of the project. A fitting place as her inspirations derive from the cinematic.
