Pitti Bimbo 74 children’s fashion trends for winter 2012 from the stands

There is so much to show you from Pitti Bimbo for next winters kids fashion that I am finding it a little hard to edit it all into a few concise posts, I have picked out some of the key trends as seen on exhibitor stands and I will be revisiting some of these labels with more depth later in the year.

All the leading trends are here, chunky knitwear, sixties influences, detachable collars, fur trims, lurex threads, strong colours such as teal, mustard, raspberry and purple, subtle tweeds and grey shades.

Kids Fashion trends for summer 2012 from Pitti Bimbo 73rd edition in Florence

OK, so I am finding this difficult because all I want to talk about is colour, the boldness of it and the lack of it, because you see mostly in Italy there is either colour and lots of it, vibrant, zinging joyful, heart lifting colour.

Or there is none, white, cream, neutral tans, flesh tones and sort of nothingness. And that is really all there is to say about trends, sure there are certain shapes, maxi lengths have all but disappeared but jumpsuits seem to have caught on, shorts are blousy and bloomerish or micro short, leggings are all over the place layered under tunics or dresses, cut off at the calf and in lace, stripes, floral prints and so on.

The rest looks just like it did 2 years ago, or 3. Ruffles are everywhere, trousers legs are mainly straight with a nod to flares at Miss Grant, skirt lengths are on the knee or just above and gathered for volume. Dresses look newest in an A line shift shape.

So below I have gathered some of my favorite things from Pitti Bimbo, its all on trend because it seems everything is these days, just a few bits are more on trend than others though! Catwalk round up tomorrow.

Anne Valerie Hash previews winter 2011 children's fashion modelled in the snow

Taking advantage of the snowfall this winter Anne Valerie Hash has shot her autumn / winter 2011 kidswear collection with good wrapped up styles to combat next winter’s chils.

I don’t think any of us are now expecting a milder winter next year and will be keen to get the warmest winter gear around, to do so in style look no further. I love the cool aesthetic of Anne’s collections and with the softest fabrics and sharpest cuts this is one of the top children’s fashion collections in Europe.

Sale time for Kids summer fashion, chic choices from online shopping

Some of my favorite websites are currently on last reductions for summer children’s fashion before the winter stock arrives, I’ve picked a quick selection below and there are some real bargains around.

Of course sizing is limited but its way better to sale shop online than dragging yourself around the shops only to find the sizes you want are not there. All these sites carry the top designer labels for children and most are 50 – 60% reductions.

The ones I have featured here include The Children’s Salon with a Dior dress, Alex and Alexa with a Ralph Lauren boy’s blazer, Smallable with a cute Makie dress and a Kidscase stripey knit, Little Fashion Gallery with a gorgeous Anne Valerie Hash tutu skirt and a Soft Gallery T-shirt and finally Little Lunalu with some sweet Baby bloch metallic slippers and Ola and Olek frilled dresses.

Apartment at Pitti Bimbo 71 the top end of children’s fashion for summer 2011

The newest area at the Pitti Bimbo fair is a top end label exclusive enclave called Apartment.

It includes high end brands such as Anne Valerie Hash (stocked at Selfridges) and Bonnie Young (stocked at Harvey Nichols) and has price levels to match. Other labels familiar there are Caramel Baby and Child, 120% Linen, Il Stupenderia, and the newly launched Baby Issa, a direct offshoot of the popular women’s fashion label.
