Children’s fashion trends for spring/summer 2011

Looking at all the womenswear collections currently being played out in London, Milan and Paris has made me reprise my views of the kids fashion collections I saw earlier this year for next summer.

Linking in the key trends seen on the catwalks my strongest trends would be for neon or coral sea colours, stripes, 70′s styling and shapes and near white neutrals. Not so many of the longer lengths yet for kids but I am sure it will come.

New looks for children’s fashion from New View at Pitti Bimbo 71

One of my favorite sections at the Pitti Bimbo fair in Florence is New View as it holds many of the Belgium, Dutch and French exhibitors whose great eye for colour combinations and sophisticated style are inspiring.

Well established designers such as my favorites Simple Kids, Anne Kurris and Dino and Lucia sit alongside newcomers such as Kico Kids from New York which makes for an interesting mix. I only wish these exhibitors could sell better in the UK market.

Trends from New View for next summer 2011 childrenswear included flourescent accents, huge animal motifs and chequered patterns mixed with florals.

Antwerp shops top for kids fashion

Amongst all the wonderful boutiques in Antwerp’s shopping district is a relative newcomer – De Kleine Wolk.

Opened in July 2008 this store sells the top Belgium design labels of Quincy, Simple Kids and Anne Kurris.

With a retro 60′s style shopfront which suits the off primary brights these labels prefer the stock is still currently winter but will soon be switching to summer styles such as those from Anne Kurris below.
