My Little Dress Up, a cute story for their beginning, a second season next winter for this kids fashion brand

My Little Dress Up exists because the designers once made a dress for a little girl they knew in memory of the special party dresses that had been given when they were young. The little girl Lola became the company model and now this children’s fashion label is showing its second season for winter 2012 kidswear.

Based on a nearly couture concept with high quality fabrics and excellent make from a high end Atelier, the label which is based in the Netherlands is growing slowly with a range of special party and event items for 2-10 years old girls and boys.

Here is their first summer collection and some previews from winter 2012 which they exhibited for the first time at Kleine Fabriek in January as well.

Something looked familiar about the Marc Jacobs brilliant winter 2012 fashion show, ahh yes, it was the giant hats, last seen on a kids catwalk in Pitti Bimbo, Florence for winter 2012 childrenswear.

I loved his mix of eccentric giant hats and lurex, brocade and chunky knits, all seen on the catwalk at Pitti Bimbo too. Here is a selection of the obvious perfect accessory for next winter from Twin-Set Girl, Monnalisa, Francomina Mini, Miss Blumarine and Waddler.

Louloueskimo, such sweet pictures for this fall / winter 2012 children’s fashion collection

Louloueskimo introduces handknitted merino and cashmere wool to the collection for kidswear next winter. It is a fun sweet look inspired by the named character Loulou herself who this season has tumbled down the rabbit hole and finds herself in Wonderland!

Sequinned tutu’s, metallic piping on fleeces, and handknits form the core of the collection with simple cool modern shapes in taupe, smoke, powder and anthracite. The core idea is that the collection should be both playful and effortless to wear but with the luxe details that set it apart and hopefully ensure the items are passed down between generations.

I am delighted to see the progress of the label since I wrote about them a year ago here.

Hucklebones have one of the classiest collections in the UK with beautiful prints on silk and cotton fabrics and classic tailoring with a quirk for kids fashion this summer.

Here is a just released set of their summer images with soft lemon and aqua shades offset by navy blue. There is a retro feel to the collection but without the stiffness of many vintage originals which makes is so much easier to wear.

Franky Grow – Dotty kids fashion from Tokyo for fall / winter 2012

I adore Franky Grow for its pure Japanese quirkiness and huge sense of fun, for children’s clothes this range just looks such a scream to wear.

Having just seen the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the Tate Modern I am a bit dot crazy this week anyway and dots seem to always be a big feature of the Franky Grow collection.

Here is a preview of the winter styles to come and a little portrait of the very shy designer Chizuko Takai at Playtime Paris.

The Yayoi Kusama exhibition runs at the Tate Modern from 9th February to 5th June and I would recommend a visit to see the breadth of her work. The Infinity Mirrored room like the one below is the last room before the exit. Do queue for this even if it is a bit of a wait, its a mind immersion in spots that feels like outer space.
