This new editorial for Luna Magazine in Germany by kids photographer Gerard Harten uses black and white Polaroid film to achieve its effects.
Not many fashion stories are shot on Polaroid film these days but I remember when it was not only popular but a big thrill to see larger format Polaroids being peeled away on a shoot. The costs alone have distanced this method, around £600 – £800 per shoot would not be unusual for any film method! Rumour has it that India is the only market left for consumer photographic film of any sort.
Digital is virtually free apart from the time involved in processing and correcting shots and many online and paper magazines would not be able to survive without this change, it is great though to see a new set of pictures of the way we were. Now Polaroid and other film types are produced for the art world instead of mass consumption.
