I am loving the big striped handknit looks in this new kids collection from American Outfitters.
Part punk and part preppy, the label has its influence in the classic US preppie styles but it can’t help but add some European quirky touches in there too. Shearling jackets are looking like a huge trend this year for kids, whether they are in real skin or fake and the skinny jean is still the trouser shape of choice.

American Outfitters Winter 2012 Interesting to see bold stripes for the winter, its more usual in the summer childrenswear collections

We will take the shearling jackets and Charley Chaplin tee (LOVE!) but I am getting increasingly annoyed by the overused trends in children’s fashion photography. If you see the masks in one photo shoot, rest assured you will see them everywhere, it’s turn of mustaches, black or colored on boys and girls alike now and the mustaches tsunami is sweeping the photo shoots everywhere. And don’t even get me started on oversized, lenses- free frames that are supposed to indicate the nerdy glamour? They are as unbearable as the various sizes of suitcases , dragged around or plopped upon that thankfully have subsided only to be replaced by oversized spectacles;)
Haha, yes you are right, someone has a good idea and suddenly its all over the place.I give the moustache original to Bang Bang Copenhagen and their boiled sweet version on a stick from two years ago.
I am so pleased to see some bright bold stripes for the winter. Just because the days are greyer doesn’t mean our children want to wear dark, boring colours!
