While some of the coolest items at the trade fairs are off the catwalk its a pretty good gauge of the season to see what is represented by some of the biggest designer names in children’s fashion at the Pitti Bimbo catwalks twice a year.
In general everyone had the same sort of items, puffy full volume skirts to the knee and A-line tunic or loose shift dresses for girls worn with leggings cut at the calf, slim trousers, shorts in all shapes and fitted tailored jackets with some shrug cardigans too. Special occasion dresses tended to be of lace or had multiple net frills and ruffles in layers often in off white or soft pastels. There are also simple shaped vivid dresses and bell shaped skirts in acid bright colours. Florals look newest mixed with stripes for an eye jerking combination.
Boyswear was fairly classical, tending towards the US preppie style and with some bright colour of which emerald green and orange were the clear favourites. Teenage styles with shirts layered over T-shirts and fine scarves rolled around necks are the favourite way to dress. As always there is a representation of nautical style and red/white/blue combinations.
Wouldn’t be summer without it!
